Jewellery care
Care that keeps your jewellery beautiful.
None of this is complicated. Put it on last, take it off first, keep it dry, and give it a box of its own. That is most of what there is to know — the rest is detail.

Simple habits. Timeless brilliance.

Card 01
The best way to store your jewellery.
Store it in its Swarnishq box
The premium box your piece arrives in is the storage we recommend. It is fitted to the piece so nothing shifts about, it keeps dust off, and it is the simplest way to keep one piece away from another.
- Keep the piece in its own box rather than loose in a drawer.
- Close the box fully — an open box collects dust and humidity.
- Keep the box somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight.
Storing several pieces together
If you would rather keep a set in one place, this is the safe way to do it — the point is that no two pieces ever touch each other.
- 1Start with a clean plastic boxRigid, dry and lined with nothing. A plain plastic box sheds no fibres and leaves no residue.
- 2Give each piece its own pouchA zip pouch or plastic cover per piece stops chains tangling and stops one piece rubbing against another.
- 3Close it and keep it coolPlace the pouches inside, close the box, and store it somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight.
Why this matters
Almost all everyday damage to fine jewellery is contact damage — pieces rubbing against each other in a shared drawer or a shared box. Separating them is worth more than any polish.
Card 02
What to avoid in a generic box
Not all lined boxes are made the same way. A cheaply-made velvet or flocked box, with poor gumming underneath the lining, causes more problems than it solves.
Shedding fibres
Loose velvet or flock fibres work their way into clasps, chain links and stone settings.
Glue residue
Poor gumming leaves adhesive that transfers onto a piece and attracts dust to it.
Fine scratches
Grit trapped in a shedding lining behaves like a very mild abrasive against a soft surface.
A dulled finish
Residue and fibre film scatter light, which is what people mean when they say a piece has lost its shine.
If you are buying storage, choose a well-made box with a securely-bonded lining, or use the clean plastic box and pouch method above.
Card 03
Six everyday care habits.
Wear it last
Perfume, hairspray, lotion and make-up all leave residue. Jewellery goes on after everything else, and comes off first.
Keep it dry
Take pieces off before showering, swimming or the sea. Chlorine, salt water and soaps leave a film that dulls a finish.
Wipe it gently
A soft, dry, lint-free cloth after each wear removes the day before it settles. No abrasives, no toothpaste, no ultrasonic cleaners.
Remove during activity
Sport, gardening, cleaning, heavy lifting and sleep. Fine jewellery is not protective equipment, and knocks are what bend things.
Rest and check
Every few months, look at clasps, settings and links in good light. Small looseness is easy to fix; a lost stone is not.
Store it smart
Back into its Swarnishq box, or into its own pouch. Cool, dry, out of sunlight, and never touching another piece.

For anything delicate, anything with stones, or anything that no longer sits or closes as it should, book a professional clean and check rather than working on it at home.
